
Phyllis Elaine Holmes, 83, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026, at The Meadows in Fulton. She was born July 19, 1942, in West Helena, Arkansas, to Lonnie Raymond and Lois Marie Collins Whaley. In her earlier years, she was the Head Majorette in her school. She retired from the Caruthers, California School District after being a school bus driver for 30 years. She enjoyed camping, traveling, and listening to country music, especially Loretta Lynn. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, April 12, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton. Visitation will be Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in the Keyes Cemetery.
Survivors include, one daughter, Sherry Holmes of Fulton; one son, Darrell Holmes (Carla) of Amory; one brother, Richard Whaley (Jackie) of Madera, CA; one sister, Colleen Gonzales (Robert) of Caruthers, CA; three grandchildren, Crystal Gipson (Nicholas), Nicole Jarrell (Phillip), and Kayla Mullins (Gabe); three step grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Travis Jefferson Holmes; two brothers, Paul Whaley and Junior Whaley; two sisters, Connie Crawford and Helen Whaley; and her parents.
