Nancy Wilks, age 78, passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday evening, April 7, 2026. Born October 9, 1947, in Marshall County, Alabama, she was the daughter of Bethel Fleming and Argel Addis Morrow Fleming. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit Andy Wilks, who passed away in 2011. A longtime resident of the New Canaan Community in Arab, Alabama, Nancy was an active member of God’s Way Ministries and dedicated many years working in the production and assembly departments of SCI/Sanmina.
Her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, were precious to her, and she treasured every moment spent with them. She was thrilled to be called “Nana,” a special name that reflected the deep love and special bond she had for her grandchildren.
Nancy enjoyed attending her church and enjoyed the fellowship and friendships she made there. She loved to travel, with the Smokey Mountains being one of her favorite locations. Nancy enjoyed cooking and shopping, both activities which she took advantage of often. Known for her kindness, loving spirit, and generosity, Nancy was a dear friend to many and touched countless lives through her gentle nature.
Nancy is survived by her son, Wayne Wilks (Glenda); daughter, Becky Poole; grandchildren, Nikki Selby (Chris), Danielle Poole (Cody), Tyler Clark (Erica), Will Clark, (McKayla), Allie Wilks, (Ryan) and Kyleigh Wilks (Dakota); fourteen great grandchildren, and brother, Jimmy Fleming (Jeanene).
She is preceded in death by her husband, Kermit Andy Wilks; parents, Bethel and Argel Fleming; daughter, Connie Rena Clark; and brothers, Harold Douglas Fleming and Douglas “Shorty” Fleming, Niece, Lori Fleming Tompkins and Nephew, Nick Fleming
Services for Nancy will be Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel. Family and friends will gather for visitation at 10:00am until the funeral service begins at 1:00pm. Brother Larry Dyar and Brother Gary Harvell will officiate. Burial will be in Arab Memorial Cemetery with Randy Wilks, Brian Hester, Danny Joe Wilks, Chris Selby, Andy Wilks, Sid Presley, Jeff Smith and Bobby Morrow serving as pallbearers. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel assisting with arrangements.
