Talmadge Jefferson "Red" Hobbs, Sr. Profile Photo  Talmadge Jefferson “Red” Hobbs, Sr., born on August 27, 1938, in Iuka, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at his residence on March 30, 2026. He was a devoted family man, an avid outdoorsman, and someone who lived a life filled with commitment and love for those around him.

Red was known for his strong work ethic, a quality that many admired in him. Throughout his life, he enjoyed spending time outdoors, turkey and deer hunting, fishing, and after his retirement, walking and visiting friends at Mineral Springs Park.

Family was an important part of Red’s life. He was proud of his children, grandchildren, and especially his ability to share his love of the outdoors with them, often taking his children, grandchildren, and their friends on hunting trips. This was one of the proudest achievements of his life, seeing the next generations enjoy activities he loved so deeply.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Emily Hobbs, his children Joey Hobbs (Christy), Laura Smith (Jerry), and Lisa Corey (Randy). Red’s legacy also lives on through his cherished grandchildren: Joseph Hobbs, Ashlee Garrett, Malerie Taylor, Channing Holland, Brandi Davis, Fischer Hobbs, Cody Smith, and Chelsea Lomenick. He was further blessed by great-grandchildren, Vaeda Hobbs, James Taylor, and Nora Thomas Taylor and his sisters, Lily Barnes and Teresa Roberts.

Red is preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Effie Hobbs; the mother of his children, Virginia Hobbs; his son, Jeff Hobbs; grandson, Hunter Hobbs; and his siblings, Ruby Tigner, Aileen Sanderson, James Hobbs, and Dimple Kauffman.

Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, MS is entrusted with the arrangements. Friends and family are invited to honor Red’s memory at a visitation on Friday, April 3, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a service at 1:00 PM. Both services will be held at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, located at 302 North Pearl Street, Iuka, Mississippi. Burial will follow in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joey Hobbs, Fischer Hobbs, Cody Smith, Josh Davis, Channing Holland, and Jerry Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Hobbs and Charles Jones.

Talmadge “Red” Hobbs, Sr. will be remembered for his dedication to family and his love of the outdoors.
