Wilma Prince Depreast Funeral service for Wilma Prince Depreast, 87, will be Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Wendell Prince officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 25, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in Shoal Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Hartselle.

Mrs. Depreast passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. She was born March 29, 1938, in Morgan County to Nathan Alexander Prince and Hattie Pauline Waddell Prince.

She was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Depreast had an amazing career in nursing with 55 + years working at Decatur Morgan Hospital. Even after her formal retirement, she worked part time caring for the newly born and being a model of what it means to be a caretaker of the community. Chances are, if you were born at Decatur Morgan Hospital in the past half century, she cared for you.  She is quoted “My love for these little bitty creations and the ability to make a difference, however small, in their lives, that’s what has kept me here”. She received multiple awards during her career, including 2014 Nurse of the Year by the Licensed Practiced Nurses Association of Alabama, recognizing the woman referred to as “every-body’s grandmother” and the “big sister” of the nursery.

She was an avid gardener and loved working in her vegetable and flower gardens. She loved to crochet, making baby booties and blankets for many new mothers.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband: Rev William Martin Depreast, brother: Stephen Douglas Prince, sister: Wanda Boyd, sisters-in-law: Francis Prince and Shelia Prince, and nephew: Jason Prince.

Oneal Prince (Betty)
Kenneth Prince

7 Nephews, 6 Nieces and multiple great nephews and nieces.
