LAUDERDALE COUNTY- Lauderdale County received a $1 million grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) to support workforce training in Lauderdale County.

The grant, awarded to the Lauderdale County Commission, will help purchase and install specialized workforce training equipment at the soon-to-be-completed Lauderdale County Workforce Training Center. Once operational, the center will provide training and certification programs in areas such as welding, mechatronics, aircraft maintenance, power generation system maintenance, and machine tool technology.

Approximately 150 students are expected to benefit from workforce training opportunities supported through the project.

The ARC grant will be matched by $1 million in local funding, bringing the total project investment to $2 million.

Lauderdale County has experienced significant growth in recent years, creating strong demand for skilled workers in local industries. The new workforce training center will help address that need by preparing local students and workers for high-wage careers in the region.

The Appalachian Regional Commission is an economic development partnership of the federal government and 13 state governments focused on strengthening economic growth and opportunity across the Appalachian region.
