Decatur Police Arrest Two Men On Porn Charges Against Minors

DECATUR-During the month of February 2026, the Decatur Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit (ICAC) began investigations into two different individuals within the City of Decatur who were potentially involved in possessing and disseminating child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

Brent Tyler McNutt

The first individual was identified as Brent Tyler McNutt. It was discovered that McNutt was utilizing the messaging platform KIK to upload and disseminate images of child sexual abuse material. On March 6, 2026, members of the Decatur Police Department’s ICAC Unit, SWAT Team, Special Enforcement Team, Criminal Investigation Division, and Crime Scene Unit executed a search warrant at McNutt’s residence.
During the search warrant multiple electronic devices were located and seized. As a result of the search warrant, McNutt was taken into custody. McNutt was transported to the Morgan County Jail and charged with three counts of Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material and three counts of Dissemination of Child Sexual Abuse Material. He was held on a $60,000 bond, per a Morgan County Circuit Court Judge.

Thomas John Allred Boland

The second individual was identified as Thomas John Allred Boland. In this investigation, Boland was believed to be uploading and storing child sexual abuse material to the cloud-based storage provider, Synchronoss Technologies. Throughout the investigation, probable cause was developed and a search warrant was obtained and executed on his residence on March 12, 2026.
Members of the Decatur Police Department’s ICAC Unit, SWAT Team, Special Enforcement Team, Criminal Investigation Division, and Crime Scene Unit assisted in the execution of the warrant. Multiple electronic devices were located inside the residence and seized for examination.
As a result of the search warrant, Boland was taken into custody and charged with five counts of Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material and five counts of Possession with Intent to Disseminate Child Sexual Abuse Material. He was transported and booked into the Morgan County Jail. A Morgan County Circuit Court Judge issued a bond of $100,000 per charge.
The investigations are ongoing and additional charges could be forthcoming.
“The above defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.”
The State of Alabama Criminal Code defines child sexual abuse material as:
Any visual depiction of an individual under 18 years of age engaged in any act of sexually explicit conduct, including a virtually indistinguishable depiction.
Possession of obscene matter is a Class C felony.
Possession with intent to disseminate child sexual abuse material is a Class B felony.
Dissemination of child sexual abuse material is a Class B felony.
In the State of Alabama, the schedule for bail amounts is established under Rule 7.2 in the Alabama Rules of Criminal Procedure. The Bond Schedule is a guideline used by judge’s to set bond amounts. Bond schedules are not binding and can waiver at the judge’s discretion when considering certain circumstances as well as other factors.
