Lillie Mae Smith Profile Photo Lillie Mae Hardy Smith, 100, passed away on Wednesday March 11, 2026 at River Place Nursing Center in Amory.  She was born in Phenix City, Alabama on September 24, 1925 to the late Jesse Melvin Hardy and Mary Lee Rucker Hardy.  Lillie graduated high school in Rome, Georgia and went on to further her office management skills after high school.  She had a longtime career as a secretary, later retiring from the Marion, Arkansas Health Department.  One of her first jobs was working in Oak Ridge, Tennessee on the top secret Manhattan Project which produced “Little Boy” that ultimately led to the Japanese Surrender in WW2. She married Bill Smith in 1978.  Lillie enjoyed time spent with the Lord in her daily Bible reading, exercising and spending time with her family.  Her legacy of love will fondly be remembered by all who knew her.

Lillie is survived by her son, David Adams (Jill) of Mountain View, Arkansas; daughters, Jan Warren and Jeanette Garner of Jasper, Tennessee; grandchildren, Benji Warren (Amber), Jake Warren (Candy), Josh Warren (DeAnna), Mallory Berry (Josh) and Devin Garner (Barbie); 9 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lillie is preceded in death by 1 sister and 3 brothers.

Funeral Services will be held at 3 PM on Friday, March 13, 2026 at Cleveland Moffett Funeral Home in Amory with Bro. Chuck Moffett officiating.  Burial will follow in Union Cemetery.  Visitation will be held prior to the service on Friday from 2 PM until 3 PM.
