Crews Wright in concert, new workshops and classes at TVAA

TUSCUMBIA/SHEFFIELD-The Tennessee Valley Arts Association and the Ritz Theatre have a few fun events coming up in the near future for your enjoyment:

Crews Wright at the Ritz!

Crews Wright is an 18 year-old country music artist from Samson, Alabama whose talent has made a significant mark on the local country music scene with a string of impressive accolades, including five consecutive wins as male vocalist of the year at the North American Country Music Association International. (2021-2025). Crews is quickly establishing himself as a rising star.

In 2022 his influence increased when he won “Southern Lights the Search for a Star”, earning him a record deal with Paradigm music group. Since then, Crews has released three singles and in October he released an entire album entitled Crews’n Back Home. This album includes his hit song “Big Deal” and “That’s How,” which won Traditional Country song and video of the Year-further showcasing his distinct style. Crews auditioned for season 23 of the hit show “American Idol” and scored the iconic “Golden Ticket” from judges Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, and Lionel Richie where he ended in the Top 30. Crews is a Nashville recording artist and songwriter, opening for acts such as Clay Walker and Trace Adkins.

 

Looking to try something new this Spring?  New courses have been added to the School of the Arts.

Photography & Light: Seeing Across the Day (Ages 18+)

1st Meeting Date: Wednesday, April 1st 5pm-6pm (4 sessions)

Designed for working adults, this four-session photography course focuses on understanding and using light at different times of day. Participants explore natural, interior, and artificial lighting while developing both technical and creative skills. The course supports DSLR, mirrorless, and cell phone users and emphasizes intentional seeing, experimentation, and thoughtful critique. Students leave with a cohesive mini photo series and a deeper understanding of how light shapes visual storytelling.

🏺 Adult’s Ceramics Class

Tuesdays 6pm-7pm

May 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th (4-weeks)

This 4-week ceramics class for adults focuses on hand-building and beginner techniques. Perfect for all skill levels, students will enjoy a creative, relaxed space while creating functional and decorative pieces.

🎨 Kids Mixed Media Art Exploration Class (Ages 6+)

Tuesdays 4pm-5pm.  April 7th – May 19 (6-weeks)

In this creative 6-week class, students will explore a variety of art materials and techniques including painting, drawing, collage, and texture-based media.  Young artists will experiment, build confidence, and create unique mixed media artworks while learning the fundamentals of visual art. (Ages 6-18yrs)

Seeing Differently: Cell Phone Photography (Ages 10-18)

Wednesdays 4pm-5pm.  April 1 – May 13 (6-weeks)

This after-school photography class introduces preteens/teens to creative image-making using cell phones. Students learn how to see the world more intentionally by exploring composition, light, color, and storytelling through hands-on activities and guided photo challenges. Using the museum galleries and outdoor spaces, participants discover how different times of day affect mood and meaning in photographs while building confidence, creativity, and visual awareness. No prior photography experience is required. (Ages 10-18)

🏠 Homeschool Art Class (Ages 6+)

Wednesdays 1pm-2pm.  April 1 – May 13 (6-weeks)

Designed for homeschool students, this 6-week art class explores a variety of mediums including drawing, painting, and mixed media. Lessons connect creativity with skill-building and artistic exploration.

An exhibit of works of art created by local Kindergarten thru 6th Grade School and collegiate students. Runs March 24th – April 30th.
