ST FLORIAN– The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a two-vehicle accident near St. Florian that has taken the life of one person and sent four other people to hospital with injuries:
“A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 3:01 p.m. Monday, March 9, has claimed the life of a Florence woman.
Brittney D. Ellis, 38, was fatally injured when the 2012 Nissan Rogue that she was driving collided head-on with the 2019 Ford Explorer driven by Carolyn Mauldon,76, of Iron City, Tenn. Ellis was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Mauldon was injured and transported to North Alabama Medical Center for treatment. A 16-year-old, 10-year-old, and 1-year-old, who were all passengers in the Rogue, were also injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The crash occurred on Alabama 17 near the 338 mile-marker, approximately half a mile south of St. Florian, in Lauderdale County.
Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
