Mr. Goran Oscar Maynor, Sr., age 85 of Hytop, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at his home. Oscar, as he was known, lived most of his life in the Hytop community. He was well known as an excellent heavy equipment operator. He was a friend to many in the area and, when his health allowed, could be found many mornings sitting at Sam’s café with several of those friends.
Mr. Maynor was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Maynor; his parents, Granville and Mamie Maynor; son, Kenneth Maynor; and several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his sons, Rickey (Laura) Smith, and Oscar (Debra) Maynor, Jr.; daughter, Brenda (Billy) Pannell; grandchildren, Eric (Kayla) Adkins, Tasha (T.C.) Clements, Amanda Pannell, Jeremy (Lindsey) Smith, Johnathan (Sara) Smith, and Naesha Hutchens; great grandchildren, Brylin Adkins, Makeelea Clements, Jayce Clements, Jobe Smith, Maddie Smith, Cypres Smith, Kielen Puckett, and Phoenix Hutchens.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 5, 2026 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Scottsboro Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, March 6, 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Scottsboro Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Ray Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Tori with Heartlite Hospice for the wonderful care she gave to Oscar, as well as several friends who would stop by and lend a hand.
