Johnny S. Nunley, born on September 22, 1958, in Iuka, Mississippi, passed away on March 4, 2026, at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. He was a dedicated individual who spent much of his life serving his community through various roles, including his time as the Tishomingo County Sheriff and with the Iuka Police Department. Johnny also worked in logging and truck driving, and he was a former minister who touched many lives with his witness.
A member of the Gospel Lighthouse Pentecostal Church, Johnny was known for his deep faith and commitment to his beliefs. His hobbies included flower gardening, reading his Bible, and playing golf.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Rhonda Rutherford Nunley; his mother-in-law, Evalena Rutherford; a sister, Barbara Nunley Waddle; five nieces and nephews, Jennifer Blunt (Tim), Dwan Robinson (Clint), Kayla Colley (Donnie), Chris Puckett (Amanda), and Andrea McNeese; and his cherished dog, Ole Dollar Bill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Furnie and Maudie Kent Nunley; a brother, Tommy Nunley; a sister, Rebecca Gentry; his father-in-law, Lamar Rutherford; and several half-brothers and sisters.
Cutshall Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 8, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, located at 302 North Pearl Street, Iuka, MS 38852. Services will be officiated by Bro. Duane Burcham and Bro. Dylan Burcham. Interment will follow in Rutledge Salem Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or to the Fresenius Medical Care Foundation.
