LTC Mark Curley, USA, Retired
On March 4, 2026, Mark Curley 72 of Huntsville, Alabama died suddenly and unexpectedly at Huntsville Hospital from cardiac arrest with his wife by his side. He was born on March 25,1953 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Mark graduated in 1975 from East Central University and received his commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army. From there, he spent much of his career working with the HAWK Missile, Patriot Missile and Army Acquisition programs. His military service sent him to many places including Bad Hersfeld and Wildflecken, Germany, Fort Bliss Texas, Redstone Arsenal and the Pentagon. Mark retired in December 1995 and moved to Huntsville where he worked as a Defense Contractor for 22 years.
After the 9/11 attack on our Country, Mark volunteered to return to active duty, offering his knowledge and skills at CENTCOM. He served 2 more years and retired in May 2005. He was honored and proud to serve his Country.
Mark’s childhood was spent working and playing on his grandparent’s farm. It was there that he developed a great love for nature. The days at farm shaped Mark’s core principles, values and character. Mark was known for his hard work and discipline. He was always the analytical person weighing his options carefully before making decisions.
The last few years, you might have found Mark at the Farm on his beloved tractor or focusing on his many projects. He enjoyed his chickens, bees, and most recently his Art Class. Mark was a teacher at heart and enjoyed sharing his passions with everyone.
Mark is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Cheryl Lawton Curley; his sister, Machella (Bill) Howard of McLoud, OK, his brother, Michael Curley of Tecumseh, OK, 2 uncles, Doug (Sharon) Adams of Angleton, TX and Doug Belshe of Moore, OK, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Doris Adams Curley.
Visitation will be held at Laughlin Service Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 4:00 – 6:00 pm with Military honors.
