Mr. John Waynord HixMr. John Waynord Hix, age 80, of Boaz, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at his residence.

Mr. Hix was born March 25, 1945, to the late Lee Roy and Delores Hix. He proudly served the City of Albertville for more than 32 years in the fire service, retiring as Fire Chief. John was known for his love of music and enjoyed picking with friends, playing the guitar, mandolin, and harmonica, and singing. He was also a cattle farmer for many years and deeply loved his family.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jennie Lacey Hix; sons, Brad Hix (Tammy) and Lee Hix (Tina); grandchildren, Emily Chapman (Justin), Carson Hix, Mary Catherine Albrecht (Mike), and John Tyner Hix (Kaylee); great-grandchildren, Darik Chapman, Baker Hix, Latham Albrecht, and Lawson Albrecht; siblings, Barbara Corbin and Joan Kinney; a host of nieces and nephews; and his faithful companion, Dixie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Joyce Corbin, Earlene Spurlin, and Judy Johnson.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at the Chapel of Adams Brown Service Funeral Home with Bro. Richard Soper officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday prior to the service beginning at 12:00 p.m.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Thursday Pickers, who gathered each week for over eight years to share their love of music. John greatly cherished that time. Special thanks also to Shepherd’s Cove Hospice for their outstanding care, and to the Albertville Fire Department for their love and support. Adams Brown Service Funeral Home is assisting the family during this difficult time.
