Anita Madry Maltbie, 82, of Huntsville, passed away peacefully on February 16th, 2026. Mrs. Maltbie was born on May 15th, 1943, in Athens, Alabama. She was the daughter of Hubert Lucius and Gladys McDole Madry. She was living at Magnolia Trace assisted living facility where she enjoyed their care and kindness during the last two years of her life.
Mrs. Maltbie is survived by her daughter, Kim Muery (David); granddaughter, Elise Muery, and grandson, Parker Muery (Addison).
She is preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Gladys Madry, and her husband, Charles Edward Maltbie.
Mrs. Maltbie will be deeply missed by those who loved her. She especially enjoyed laughing and talking with family and friends. She made two special friends in the last few years of her life, Mrs. Susan Rosson and Mrs. Sherilyn Cruger. They were like daughters to her. She and her childhood friend, Nancy Griffin Berry, talked weekly and shared their fond memories of years growing up together.
Family and friends are invited to visitation for Mrs. Maltbie on February 24th, 2026, at 12:00 – 12:50 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Eric Kohler. Her final resting place will be Roselawn Cemetery in Athens.
Flowers or contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital are welcome.
