Morgan County Deputies Net Drugs, Firearms And Cash After Traffic Stop

DANVILLE, AL-On February 11, 2026, a Deputy Sheriff with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle, driven by Phillip Todd Burgess, near the intersection of Iron Man Rd and Blankenship Rd in Danville.

During the course of the traffic stop, Burgess was found to be in possession of a large quantity of a white powder-like

substance that field tested positive as cocaine along with quantities of marijuana. Agents with the Sheriff’s Drug Enforcement Unit were called to the scene.

A search warrant was obtained and executed at Burgess’s residence in the 200-block of Blankenship Rd. During the search, additional quantities of cocaine, marijuana, controlled substance prescription medication, firearms, and United States currency believed to be drug proceeds were recovered from the residence.
Phillip Todd Burgess, 47 of Danville, was arrested and charged with:
▪️13A-12-231 Dangerous Drugs-Drug Trafficking Cocaine
▪️13A-12-213 Dangerous Drugs-Possession of Marijuana 1st Degree
▪️13A-2-11 Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substance – Hydrocodone
He was transported to the Morgan County Jail where he was booked without incident. The total bond was $18,500.00. with additional charges possible.
