It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Billy Eugene Gatlin, aged 58, who left us on Saturday, February 14th, 2026, at his home in Athens. Born on May 5th, 1967, in Decatur, Alabama, Billy was the son of Billy Wayne and Evelyn Rae Adams Gatlin.
Billy is remembered by his loving family, including his daughters Leslie Gatlin (Jason) and Brandi Haggermaker (Harlon); grandchildren Savannah, Bailey, Makenleigh, Hayden, and Grayson; Billy’s legacy continues with his great-grandson Colson; He is also survived by his brother, Stacey Gatlin, and was a caring uncle to his niece, Hannah Gatlin, and nephews, John Gatlin and Parker Gatlin.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Byron Gatlin and Johnny Gatlin.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the visitation for Billy on Thursday, February 19th, 2026, from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Bottoms Cemetery, with Patrick Smith officiating. Shane Smith, Jason Pendergrass, Brandon Taylor, Harlon Haggermaker, Cody Smith, and Stacey Gatlin will have the honor of serving as pallbearers.
Billy Eugene Gatlin will be remembered for his warmth, his dedication to his family, and the joy he brought to those around him. Known for his love of roosters and his passion for coon hunting, Billy’s enthusiasm for life was infectious. His memory will be cherished by family and friends alike.
