James Kelso, 90, of Rogersville, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family.
He proudly served as a member and chief of the Elgin Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of Words of Truth Baptist Church. As a longtime business owner, he operated Kelso Ice for many years, building lasting relationships throughout the community. Above all, Mr. Kelso was a loving father and grandfather. He was known for his joking humor, generosity, kindness, and willingness to help others. His legacy of service, hard work, and compassion will be cherished by all who knew him.
Visitation will be Monday, February 16th from 12 – 1 p.m. at Rogersville Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow in the chapel with Garry Lovette and Jerry Marlow officiating. Burial will be in Springfield Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eric Kelso, Nick Kelso, Dustin Kelso, Bradley Kelso, Joseph Haggard, Logan Haggard and honorary, Brian Lopez and Chucky Baker.
Mr. Kelso was preceded in death by his parents, Eric and Mattie Kelso; wife, Audean Kelso; brothers, Marlin Kelso, Junior Kelso, Edward Kelso; grandson, Baby Boy Kelso; great-great granddaughter, Averly Haggard. He is survived by his children, Jerry (Sue) Kelso, Steve (Lynn) Kelso, Donna Borden and Kenneth (Wendy) Kelso; grandchildren, Eric Kelso, Nick (Amber) Kelso, Dustin (Heather) Kelso, Chris (Kristie) Emerson, Belinda (Brian) Lopez, Joseph (Crystal) Haggard, Hope Haggard and Bradley (Nichole) Kelso; twenty great-grandchildren; twelve great-great grandchildren; special friend, Chucky Baker.
