Jane Burnett Profile PhotoMrs. Cecelia Jane Burnett, age 88, of Vernon, AL, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2026, at her residence.

Mrs. Burnett was born June 11, 1937 in Lamar County, AL, to the late Alfred and Nell Holley. She was married for 61 years to the late Jim D. Burnett. Jane was a graduate of Lamar County High School and attended Auburn University until Jim was drafted into the Army in 1958 and sent to Germany. She worked for over 30 years as secretary to five different Superintendents of the Lamar County Board of Education. She served for a number of years on the Vernon Water and Sewer Board and the Vernon Housing Authority Board.

Jane was a faithful member of the Vernon First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the Choir and played piano for a number of years.  She genuinely loved people and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 14, at 3:00 PM, at the First Baptist Church of Vernon, with Bro. Clyde Stevens and Bro. Brandon Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Lamar Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the church 2:00-3:00 prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Clanton DuBose, Phillip Glasgow, Paul Wheeler, Edwin Collins, Terry Russell, Henry Smith, Sam Rogers, and Danny Hollis.

Survivors include two sons, Anthony Burnett and Joseph (Amber) Burnett, both of Vernon, AL; and two grandchildren, Ty and Ali Burnett.
