Betty Hancock NixBetty Hancock Nix, 90, of Russellville, Alabama, passed away on February 6, 2026.

At a young age, Betty began a career as a beautician. She later returned to college and went on to build a long and successful career at Citizens Bank in Russellville, where she advanced through the years and earned the position of Vice President of Human Resources before retiring after many years of dedicated service. She was a faithful member of Redemption Shoals (formerly Highland Park Baptist Church), where she attended and taught Sunday School for many years.

Betty will be remembered as a loving wife and mother whose loyalty and care never wavered. She provided constant, devoted care for her husband and later for her daughter. Though she faced many challenges throughout her life, Betty met them with quiet strength and resilience, relying on her faith and trusting God through every season.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norvil Nix; and her daughter, Pam Akins.

She is survived by her son, Mark Nix (Mersey); her sisters, Jeni Parks and Brenda Moore; her grandchildren, Holli Wade (Brian), Michael Nix (Ann Evans), Ethan Nix (Kelsey), Lauren and Katherine Whitehead; and her great-grandchildren, Raley and Parks Gaston, and Seldon and Betsy Nix.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the staff of the Memory Care Unit at Mitchell-Hollingsworth and Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care and kindness.

Family and friends will be received from 12:30-1:30 on Tuesday, February 10 at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Franklin Memory Gardens. Chaplain Garry Lovette will officiate. Pallbearers will be friends and family.
