Michael Rooker, 54, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026. He is now free from pain and rejoicing in heaven with Jesus and the loved ones who preceded him.
Michael had a deep love for music—enjoyed playing guitar—college football, and his cherished dogs, who brought him endless joy and companionship. He led a varied and accomplished career: he was a licensed pilot, worked for many years as a mechanic, co-owned a shipping business, and spent his final years with Boeing.
He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Lisa and William Curtis; stepfather, Roger Engelke; and many dear friends who loved and cared for him deeply.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ann Engelke; his father, Tom Rooker; his brother, Donald Rooker; and his grandparents, Hugh and Pansy Rooker and Carl and Hazel Pickens.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Glenwood Cemetery in Fort Payne, Alabama, in the brick gazebo at the main entrance on 9th Street.
