Shirley Wyvona Black, age 89, of Athens died February 5, 2026 at her residence. She was born December 15, 1936 to Willliam Kyle Casteel and Lela Wooldridge Casteel in Athens. Mrs. Black was a member of the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ. She is survived by her sons, Steve (Gina) Black of Decatur and Thomas (Debbie) Black of Elkmont, daughters, Pam (Hilton) Malone of Athens, Susan (Bob) DeBerardinis of Athens, and Kim (Jamey) Holt of Athens, Brother, Johnny Casteel of Athens, six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family will have a visitation prior to services on Sunday, February 8th from 12:30 to service time at Spry Funeral Home with services starting at 2:00 p.m. also at Spry. Brendan Walker to officiate. Pallbearers will be nephews and great grandsons. Interment to follow services at Limestone Memorial Gardens.
