Kyle Robert Smothers, age 35, of White House, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026. Funeral services will be conducted at 10am Saturday, February 7th, in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield, with Bro. David Evans officiating. He was born on March 1, 1990, in Louisville, Kentucky, just across the river from New Albany, Indiana. Kyle moved to Springfield when he was just over a year old, a place he would proudly call home for the rest of his life.

Kyle Robert was a 2008 graduate of Springfield High School. He spent many years working in the parts department for various car dealerships, where he was known for his knowledge, dedication, and strong work ethic. At the time of his passing, he was employed by Tate Ornamental in White House. He learned new wood working skills there, picking up a new hobby, making and cutting charcuterie boards for family and friends.

Kyle Robert had a deep love for music, especially old-school country. Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, and Johnny Cash were among his favorites, and it wasn’t uncommon to receive a text from Kyle with a link to a song that truly spoke to him. Music was one of the ways he connected with the people he loved.

NASCAR was another passion of Kyle’s. He loved attending races and watching them whenever he could. His favorite driver was #5, Kyle Larson—and he was quick to make sure no one confused him with Kyle Busch, a mistake that would definitely get him fired up. Kyle was also a devoted Tennessee Volunteers fan and enjoyed watching the Vols alongside friends and family.

Kyle will be remembered for his passions, his loyalty, and the connections he shared with those around him. He leaves behind family and friends who will miss him deeply and cherish the memories he gave them.

He is survived by his uncles, Jeff Smothers (Jackie) of Springfield, Sammy Smothers of Stewart, TN, and his aunt, Allyson Smothers of Germantown, TN. Cousins Kami Spurlock (Steve) of Greenbrier, Matthew Proctor (Morgan) of Clarksville, TN and Christopher Smothers (Stephanie) of Hendersonville, TN. His Grandfather, William F Abbott (New Albany, IN). Truly takes a village, Scott Sweatt (Ginger) of Greenbrier and Rose Rumel Moffett (Jeff) Bristol, TN were always available to step up as his family.

He is proceeded in death by his father, Tracy Smothers and his mother, Kimberly Abbott, grandparents, Bob and Wanda Smothers and grandmother, Lynda Bura.

Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of these arrangements.
