Dewey Travis Franks, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at his residence. He was born on February 19, 1942, to Dewey Travis Franks, Sr, and Loyce Hodges Franks. Travis was a member of Hebron Baptist Church. He retired from the MS Forestry Commission, where he worked for over thirty years. Travis was an Army Veteran. He enjoyed watching television, raising cattle, riding his side by side, and spending time with his family, especially eating out with his cousins.
Visitation will be at Hebron Baptist Church, Friday, January 30, 2026, starting at 5:00 P.M., and on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M., the funeral will be at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Hebron Baptist Church with Rev. J.T. Pennington and Rev. Shane Dunaway officiating, burial will follow in the Thaxton Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home is honored to assist the family.
Survivors include his two daughter, Kaci Sprayberry (Jeffery) and Kim McMillen (Timmy), two step-daughters, Diane Dalton and Carol Crowley; step-son, Bryan Dendy, three grandchildren, Amber Adams (Eugene), Lorin Morris (Brad) and Megan Sprayberry, six great-grandchildren, Alona Finley, Aubrey Finley, Brayden Raines, Hyla Raines, Ivy Jackson and Kyle Fauver, four step-grandchildren, Allie Hillhouse (Johnathon), Harlie Clair Dalton, Griffin Dalton and Lucas Dendy, and three step-great grandchildren, Brantley Hillhouse, John David Hillhouse and Lillie Kate Hillhouse.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Barbara Fay Franks, two sisters, Bobbie Washington and Glenda Wooten, brother, Terry Franks and two great-grandchildren, Landon and Grayson Finley.
Pallbearers will be Leo Mask, Matt Morgan, Daniel Morgan, Tyson Franks, Gary Lynn Washington, Eugene Adams, Brad Raines and Pat Tutor. Honorary pallbearers will be Mickey McKnight, Stacey Dalton, Rickey Miller and Jock Adams.
