Funeral services for Mr. Ralph J. “Peanut” Brooks, age 73, of Ashland will be held on January 30, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville, with Bro. Alex Higgins officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Cleburne County.

Mr. Brooks was born in Calhoun County and also lived in Randolph and Clay County. Peanut painted houses for a living most of his life, he enjoyed working on and driving “Hot Rods” when he was younger, and also hunting, fishing and watching Alabama football.

He is survived by his daughter; Becky Braswell (Richard) of Ashland, sons; Ralph Brooks Jr. (Stacie), Chris Brooks, and Anthony Higgins (Leslie) all of Wedowee, his grandchildren; Tyler Johnson, Aleah Brooks, Jacob Farr, Johnathan Wilson, Jaxon Wilson, Emma Robinson, Cole Sanders, Cooper Sanders, Alex Welles, Katlin Higgins, Aaron Higgins, Nathan Higgins, and Parker Higgins, great-grandchildren; K J Brown, Ansley Brown, Reid Johnson, Braxton Farr, Addilin Higgins, and Azzaria Higgins, sister; Janet Lee of Franklin, Ga, brothers; Bo Brooks (Carol) of Pell City, Tony Brooks of Franklin, Ga., John Brooks (Chenel) of Valley, and Doyle Brooks also of Valley plus a large extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Birsey D. Brooks and Nellie Faye McCulley Brooks, three sisters; Rena Whaley, Linda Brooks, and Melba Brooks, and one brother; Gregory Brooks.

Family will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville on Friday January 30, 2026 from 12:00 until service time at 1:00 P.M.
