R.L. Wells, age 93 of Fort Payne, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at Collinsville Health & Rehab. He was born on November 18, 1932 in Fort Payne to the late Bea & Ethel Harris Wells. He moved to Michigan in his late teens and started working for Ford Motor Company where he retired after 21 years.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Sunday, February 1, 2026 at the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the Walkers Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
He is survived by his children, Roger Wells, Ronnie Wells, Tina Wells, Doug Wells, Tonya Wells, Kelly Wells, Durwin Wells, Katrina Wells, Nathan Wells, Johnathan Wells, and Colby Wells; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bea & Ethel Wells; son, Jerry Wells; brothers, Ewing Wells, B.C. Wells and Tommy Wells; and sisters, Neva Abernathy, Sybol DeMarco and Collean Fowler.
