Funeral services for Mr. Jere Robert Raines, age 83, will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, February 7, 2026, in the Shelton-Hunt Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 AM until service time.
Mr. Raines, a truck driver, postal worker and member of Central Avenue Christian Church, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, in the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Mr. Raines loved his family and singing with the Church at Sugar Creek Sonshiners.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Mildred Raines; a sister, Mary Alice Saxon; and a brother, James Thomas Raines Jr.
Mr. Raines is survived by his wife, Betty Sue Raines; a daughter, Lisa Rene Raines; two sons, James David Raines (Sherry) and Jeremy Robert Raines (Leah); seven grandchildren, Sophie Raines, Isabella Raines, Noble Raines, Samuel Raines, Wyatt Raines, Jeri Manseau (Carson) and Sadie Raines; and three great grandchildren.
