Bettie Jean Hopkins, age 82, passed away Saturday January 24, 2026 at her home surrounded by her children. Bettie was born on June 22, 1943 to the late James Thomas and Irene Rigsby Walling. Bettie loved flowers, shopping, playing the piano and guitar. She loved her family most of all. She was of the Jehovah Witness faith.
In addition to her parents, Bettie was preceded in death by, husband; Fate Hopkins, brothers; Henry Earl Walling, Johnny Walling, Billy Walling, sisters; Rachel Watson, Mattie Guy, great-grandchildren; Brooklyn Green, James DeJardins, Bo Matthew Hopkins.
Bettie is survived by her loving family, sons; James Hopkins, Anthony (Molly) Hopkins, daughters; Marilyn Dixon, Vivian Bailey, brothers; Tommy Walling, Eddie (Gloria) Walling, sisters; Mary Flatt, Beatrice Hopkins, Lorene Walling, Brenda Walling, Patricia Walling, Yvonna (Russell) Rutledge, Mary Whitman, Anna Frizzell, grandchildren; Amy Seibers, James W. (Judy) Hopkins, Tamera Hopkins, Braxton (Stacie) Hopkins, Jessica Rogers, Fate Dixon, David Bruce White Jr., great-grandchildren; Kyler (Amber) Hopkins, Nicholas Tibbetts, Adrianna Tibbetts, McKenzie Tibbetts, Jonah Bond, Riker Sumner, Maliegha Hopkins, Mina Kate Hopkins, Nova Jane Hopkins, Willie Hayes Hopkins, Zachary McCluskey, great-great-grandchild; Maelynn Hopkins.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday January 28, 2026 at 1:00pm in the Layne Chapel with Bro. Wayne Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow at Sietz Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday 10:00am till time of service at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations to Sietz Cemetery. Donations may be made at the funeral home.
