LIMESTONE COUNTY-On Saturday, January 24, 2026, Limestone County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a female being assaulted and taken against her will. Deputies and Investigators responded to the 20000 block of Yarbrough Road, where witnesses reported that Jason Allen Hargrove forcibly dragged the victim out of a residence and slammed her to the ground multiple times before forcing her to leave with him.

Deputies and Investigators worked throughout the night and into the early morning hours, exhausting all available leads in an effort to locate both Hargrove and the victim.
At approximately 8:00 a.m. Sunday morning, the victim was able to escape from Hargrove and call for help. The victim sustained visible injuries as a result of the attack. Deputies responded to the area and located Hargrove, who fled on foot and resisted arrest. After being tased, Hargrove was taken into custody without further incident.
Probable cause was established to arrest Jason Allen Hargrove. 41, of Athens, AL, on the following charges:
* Kidnapping, 2nd Degree
* Domestic Violence – Strangulation or Suffocation
* Resisting Arrest
* Obstruction of Governmental Operations
A judge will address the bond at a later time.

“First and foremost, I am grateful the victim was able to escape and reach out for help this morning. Her courage, along with the swift response from our dispatchers, deputies and investigators, led to the apprehension of the suspect and brought this situation to an end.
I want to thank every agency and individual who worked alongside us through the night, including Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and the Alabama Fusion Center, for their immediate support and partnership in this case.
