John “Jack” Neil Bethshares, 87, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at Huntsville Hospital. He was born March 7, 1938, to James Clifford Bethshares and Grace Senter Bethshares, who preceded him in death.
He was born in Lewisburg, Tennessee, and attended school there and graduated from Columbia Military Academy in Columbia, Tennessee. He also attended the University of Oklahoma and the University of Tennessee. While living in Tennessee he competed and was a Champion Skeet Shooter and also was the Owner and Manager of the Dr. Pepper plant. He and his family moved to Decatur in 1974, where he became the Owner and Manager of the Sundrop Bottling Company and the Double Cola Plant in Huntsville. He still competed in Skeet Shooting after moving to Alabama and was still considered a Champion.
