ATHENS-The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office reports that on January 8, 2026, the Limestone County Narcotics Unit conducted a traffic stop within the city limits of Athens.
During the traffic stop, K9 Ares was deployed to conduct a free-air sniff of the 
vehicle. K9 Ares alerted to the presence of narcotics. A subsequent search of the vehicle was performed, which resulted in the discovery of approximately four (4) ounces of methamphetamine inside the truck.

No bond has been set at this time.
Billy Ray Morris Jr., 45, of Elkmont, Alabama, was also arrested and charged with Drug Trafficking. No bond has been set at this time.
