Jerry Clay, age 83 of Boaz passed away Thursday, January 8, 2026 at his home.
Jerry Clay is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Carolyn Clay; his children—Jay and Beth Clay, Mark Clay; stepchildren Lieutenant Colonel Greg and Jennifer Pate, Rodney and Kelly Pate, Andrea and Rick Ragsdale, and Steven and Dr. Caroline Pate; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers Larry and Ronnie Clay; sister Kathy Clay. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Evelyn Clay.
Though dementia brought many challenges, Jerry faced it with grace, and his family is grateful for the peace he now knows, free from struggle. In his memory, the family suggests donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in lieu of flowers.
A memorial service/celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Albertville Memorial Chapel. All who loved him are welcome to join in remembering the wonderful man he was. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Buck Poole will officiate his service. He will be laid to rest at Dekalb Memorial Gardens.
