Phillip Prater Phillip Paul Prater, 61, of Fort Payne, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born June 3, 1964, to the late Carl Prater and Edith Bone Prater. Years ago, he enjoyed racing, but later in life he traded racing for fishing. Phil retired from Renfro Hosiery and was a faithful member of Rainsville Community Church.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Rainsville Community Church with Rev. Cates Noles and Rev. Thomas Frost officiating. Burial will follow in Walkers Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home and on Saturday from 12 noon until the 2 p.m. hour of service at Rainsville Community Church.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years Letha Daniel Prater; son Phillip Prater and wife Julie; grandchildren Logan Gage Prater, Gavin Paul Prater, and Dylan Malachi Prater; brother Tim Prater; sister-in-law Rita Bone; a host of nieces and nephews; and chosen family Jeffery and Tasha Wagner and their children and Rickey and Virginia Bradley and their children.

He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Edith Prater and brother Michael Bone.

Wilson Funeral Home and Crematory of Fort Payne is in charge of arrangements.
