ALEA SBI Seeking Person of Interest Nationwide in Alabama Homicide Investigation

PERRY COUNTY – On Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2025, Special Agents assigned to the Alabama Law
Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) launched a homicide investigation
at the request of the Perry County Sheriff’s Office.

Jeffery Holifield, 68, of Marion, was found deceased in the 2000 Block of Onrow Tubbs Road in
Marion, located within Perry County in Alabama. After further investigation, Anastassja “Anya” or
“Tess” Cooper, 32, of Marion, was identified as a person of interest. SBI is asking the public’s
assistance in locating Cooper for questioning and is expanding their search nationwide. Cooper was
recently seen in San Mateo, California. She also has family connections in Pennsylvania, Ohio and
Oregon.

Cooper is described as a white female with brown hair, brown eyes, standing at 5’9” and weighing 216
pounds. She may also be in possession of or traveling with a mixed breed dog named “Banana.”

Nothing further is available as the investigation is ongoing.
