Mrs. Joy Humphries Stewart, age 82, of Arab, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice in Albertville, AL on Monday afternoon, January 5, 2026. Born on March 27, 1943 in Morgan County, AL, Joy was the daughter of Boyce Humphries and Doris Emmie Snow Humphries.
Joy grew up in the Hulaco Community of Morgan County, graduated from Fairview High School, and was a member of Grandiflora Church of Christ. She chose Arab as her forever home and spent her career working diligently in the sewing industry. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Oscar “W.O” Stewart, in 2003.
Known for her strong work ethic, Joy also enjoyed shopping, tending to her flowers, traveling, and most of all, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Boyce and Doris Humphries; her husband, W.O. Stewart; brothers, Sherrel Humphries and Mike Humphries; and sister, Dot Humphries Albright.
Family and friends are invited to honor Joy’s memory at a visitation from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Arab Memorial Cemetery, officiated by Brother Andy Kennedy. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel is honored to assist with the arrangements.
