Mary Annette Pruitt, 81, of New Hope, passed away Friday, January 2, 2026, peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends.
She was born February 5, 1944 in Scottsboro, Alabama. She lived in New Hope most of her life and she was a devoted member of Clouds Cove Holiness Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.
She was preceded in death by husband, Charles Pruitt Jr.; daughter, Angela Pruitt Henson; father, William Dewey Gwathney; mother, Lydia Lucille Gwathney; siblings, Rita Joyce Justice, Mildred Louise Marler, Richard Gwathney, Ralph Gwathney, and Jimmy Gwathney.
Surviving are daughter, Kimberly (Eddie) Cunningham; sons, Doug (Kathy) Pruitt and Charles Darin Pruitt; grandchildren, Jessica Gurley, Matthew Henson, Heath (Ashlyn) Cunningham, Haley (Zach) Seals, C.J. Pruitt, and Brandon Pruitt; great grandchildren, Dakota Woods and Charlotte Seals; siblings, Barbara Mefford, Sherry (Ted) Lyons, and Alvie Gwathney; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home. Services will be held at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel, Monday at 2:00 PM with Bro. Wayne Walls officiating. Pallbearers will be Heath Cunningham, Robert Hillis, Billy Hillis, Bradley Lyon, Matt Henson and Curtis Anderton.
Interment will be in Collier Cemetery.
