Betty Sue Pendergraft, 92, passed to eternal life on December 28, 2025. She was born on December 25, 1933, to Johnnie and Estelle Hughes. For almost 60 years, she served as a dedicated and loving pastor’s wife to her husband, Reverend J.B. Pendergraft. Her greatest joys were her family and home. A faithful reader of God’s word, her favorite scripture is John 14:2-3 which she quoted many times.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Martha Martin, and brother, Frank Hughes.
She is survived by her children, Melissa Hancock (Stephen), Jeffery Pendergraft (Liesa), and Vanessa Suggs (Elton); her grandchildren, Stephenie Hancock, Robert Pendergraft (Rachel), Christopher Pendergraft (Amanda), Bradford Suggs (Crystal), Sarah Tillman (Jonathan), and Camryn Suggs; her great- grandchildren, Geneva, Judson, Katharina, Isaac, and Ada Hilde Pendergraft, Harrison and Hensley Suggs, and Oaklee Tillman.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, January 2, 2026, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home with the funeral directly following. Presiding over the funeral will be her grandson, Dr. Robert Pendergraft. Burial will be at Huntsville Memory Gardens. Pallbearers are Jeffery Pendergraft, Christopher Pendergraft, Elton Suggs, Bradford Suggs, Stephen Hancock, and Jonathan Tillman.
