Mr. John Charles Padgett, age 72, of McMinnville, TN passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025 at Ascension St. Thomas West Hospital. He was born on April 15, 1953 in Monterey, TN. A retired fork truck driver from Carrier, he faithfully served the Lord in pastoring at Campaign Baptist Church and Bethel Hill Baptist Church. He would often step in for other churches in times of need. Known for his caring heart, wisdom, and integrity, his faith and devotion left an impact on many lives. While he wasn’t behind a pulpit, he was in his shop woodworking or on the river fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years Marie Bond Padgett, daughter Lorie Del (Ryan) Kesey, sisters Rose Campbell and Wilma Fish, brother Ralph (Marilyn) Padgett, grandson Corbin Kesey, brother-in-law Frank (Gewanda) Bond, and sisters-in-law Geneva (Reece) Winfrey, Janie Phifer, Diane Bond, Audrey (Charles) Morgan, and Wanda (Randy) Neely. A host of nieces and nephews also survive. He is preceded in death by his parents Frank Sevier Padgett and Ova Delphene Judkins Padgett, sister Ruth Neal, and brother Paul Padgett.
Funeral service for John Padgett is scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 29, 2025 in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Jackie Matheney and Ray Gilder will officiate. Interment will follow at Gath Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and again on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 2:00 P.M.
