Stephen Louis “Steve” Sampley, age 68 of Fort Payne, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025 at his residence. He was born on September 19, 1957 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Theodore & Edith Johnson Sampley.
Steve worked many years in the hosiery business.
A Graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at Walkers Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Cates Noles officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 12 noon until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Nellie Thompson Sampley; children, Karla Wells (Alan), Misty Lawless (Matt), Stacy Buffington (Nathan), and Jeremy Sampley (Mandy); sister, JoAnn Massey; grandchildren, Brett Lawless, Natalie Lawless, Bryson Buffington, Cooper Buffington, Ava Buffington, Mallory Brooks, Josiah Sampley, Skyler Sampley, and Maddy Sampley; great-grandchildren, Keagan Lawless, Luna Lawless, Mika Lawless, Rylie Abercrombie, and Ivy Abercrombie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Gene Sampley and Armenda Hastings.
