Funeral Services for Mrs. Judy Wheeles Meigs, age 68 of Ashland, will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2025 at Big Springs Baptist Church at 2:00 P.M. with Dr. Albert Pike officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Mrs. Meigs passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at her son’s home in Suwanee, Georgia. She was born and raised in Clay County and was a graduate of Bibb Graves High School. She worked numerous jobs over her lifetime, beginning with Higgins Manufacturing as a seamstress. She would go on to serve as a substitute school bus driver, worked at the Texaco Gas Station and Doller General. She even owned and operated a local feed store for a short time. Mrs. Meigs enjoyed sewing and gardening in her spare time. Her passion, however, was traveling with her mom to antique stores, thrift stores, and yard sales, for she was a sucker for a good deal. Mrs. Meigs was a hard worker, and took pride in everything that she did. She was direct and didn’t sugarcoat, but she was a loving mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Meigs is survived by her son, Brian Taylor (Jennifer) of Suwanee, GA; two grandchildren: Aidan and Reagan Taylor; one sister, Becky McCain of Ashland; two nieces: Dora Jean Schooler (Terry) of Fairfax, VA and Rachael Patterson (James) of Oxford, plus other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Jack Thomas Wheeles and Dora Bell Mitchell Wheeles; two sisters: Dora Ann Morris and Sandra Wheeles; and one brother, Jack Thomas Wheeles.
Aidan Taylor, Jackson Wyatt, Brandon Burton, David Bolan, Winston Hayes, and William Hayes will serve as pallbearers.
Her visitation will take place on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville beginning at 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. She will lie in state at Big Springs Baptist Church on Sunday beginning at 1:00 P.M. until Service time at 2:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations towards funeral expenses be brought to Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville.
