Frieda Marie Brown Knapper, age 95 of Winchester, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. A native of Franklin County, she was born in Winchester on July 25, 1930, to the late Robert Faulkner and Hazel (Hannah) Brown. A dedicated homemaker, Frieda’s life revolved around her beloved family. She cherished the time spent with them, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. When she was able, she enjoyed cooking, shopping, working in her flowers, and going to Knoxville to cheer on the University of Tennessee Volunteers football team. An amazing, strong woman who knew sacrifice, Frieda gave back to her community through being a volunteer candy-striper at the local hospital. Her love for others was shown daily whether it was having the neighborhood children stop by to play in her yard or giving them a treat from her candy jar, her kind words and encouragement were so special. She was a devoted Christian and member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Knapper; and brother, Robert “Bob” Brown. Frieda is survived by her loving sons, Charles (Doylene) Knapper and Tim (Sandy) Knapper; ten grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren with one on the way. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 13, 2025, in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Michael Clark officiating.
