Hazel Quekemeyer Bowen, 85, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on December 1, 2025, in Millbrook, Alabama.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, 2320 Bob Wallace Ave., Huntsville, AL 35805. The memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel with Reverend Tom Bell officiating.
Hazel was born in Memphis, Tennessee to Charles and Margaret Quekemeyer on February 26, 1940. She went to East High School and graduated in 1958. She worked for the United Methodist Church as Secretary to the District Superintendent of the Northeast Alabama District of the North Alabama Conference for almost 40 years. She was involved with UMCOR and the United Methodist Women, serving in several offices conference-wide, including president.
Hazel is survived by her daughter, Katherine Mumpower (Barry); siblings, Gail Kinsinger, Beverly McMillian, John Quekemeyer (Carrliss), and Susan Beith (David); grandchildren, Colton Bruton (Amanda), Trey Bowen (Ashlan), Bo Bowen, Amanda Bolton (Corey), Grace Bailey (Charles), and Jennifer Hughes (Nick); and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Roy Bowen, Sr.; parents, Charles E. Quekemeyer and Margaret Quekemeyer; brother, Charles Quekemeyer, Jr.; sons, Thomas Roy Bowen, Jr. and Edward Alexander Bowen; and great-granddaughter, Cecilia Frances Bowen.
