Lavonia Gregory Hadley, 92, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Magnolia Manor in Lee County, MS. After graduating from Randolph High School, she attended cosmetology school and went on to work as a licensed cosmetologist and seamstress, specializing in smocked dresses. She also served as a supervisor in garment factories around the Memphis area. In her free time, she loved gardening, especially tending to her roses. A wonderful cook, she was famous among her family for her lasagna. Though she didn’t have children of her own, she had a big heart for caring for her beloved fur babies.
She is survived by her sister, Martha Louise Tutor of Hernando, MS; her stepdaughter, Kelli Hadley Nelson (Rob) of Palm City, FL; three step-grandchildren, Eric Nelson, Holly Nelson, and Ryan Nelson; her nieces, Deborah Munn (Marty), Diane Sprouse, Linda Griffin (Alvin), Faye Miller (Donald), and Faye Hodges (Keith); her nephews, Junior Britt (Carol), Tony Tutor (Anita), Gregg Tutor (Brenda), and Scotty Pennington (Christy); and her cherished great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom Aunt Vone loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Asher Charles “Bud” Hadley; her parents, Lester and Gertrude Huey Gregory; her sisters, Ruth Britt (Doyce), Lavern Brown (Edd), Maggie Tutor (Billy), and Laberta Pennington (Joe); her brother, Harold Gregory; and her brother-in-law, Jimmy D. Tutor.
The funeral service will take place on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 2 PM at Baldwin Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc, with Bro. Chuck Patrick and Bro. Johnnie Smith officiating. Visitation will start at 12 PM and continue until the service begins, followed by burial in West Heights Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Scotty Pennington, Landon Pennington, Isaac Patrick, Justin Tutor, Will Tutor, and Nik Tutor.
