Bill “Blossom” Ezell, age 101, of Lewisburg, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Marshall Medical Center with his loving family at his side.
Blossom, as he was known his entire life, was born September 28, 1924, in Elkton, Tennessee, to the late Henry “Grady” and Charlie Brown Ezell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, best friend and love of his life for 68 years, Anne Clark Ezell in 2018; two brothers Grady (Mary) Ezell and Andy (Michiko) Ezell, and his half sister Lou (Richard) Swain.
He is survived by his daughters, Gwen (Carl) Warren of Lewisburg and Mitzi (Steve) Dickerson of Nashville; son Ken (Vickie) Ezell of Lewisburg; eight grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; nephews Howard Ezell and Matt Lewis; niece Michele Lawson.
He was a member of Cornersville Church of Christ where he often led the singing on Sunday mornings. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the 42nd Rainbow Infantry Division of the US Army. He was recognized recently as the oldest living veteran in Marshall county. He began his career as a barber in 1949 and is known throughout Marshall County as the best barber in town. His barbershop was the social hub of the community, where men gathered to discuss news, sports, local happenings, swap stories and tell tall tales. He was the barber for many generations of now grown men and their children. He loved watching the University of Tennessee Volunteer girls softball and basketball games as well as the football games. He was rarely seen without his UT cap. Always smiling, happy and friendly, Blossom never met a stranger. Above all else, his family was his life’s greatest joy. Whether gathering for holidays, sharing everyday moments, or supporting one another through life’s challenges, his love for his family shone in all he did. He loved his family dearly and never failed to tell each person how much he loved them. The love he gave and received will continue to unite and uplift his family for generations. He will be deeply missed.
