Peggy Jean Butler Mason Rutledge, 90, of Ardmore, Alabama passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 22, 2025, surrounded by her family.
She was born on September 29, 1935, to the late Mr. Samuel Carroll Butler and Mrs. Mildred Gertrude Butler.
She lived a majority of her life in the Ardmore area where she was a member at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Peggy loved taking care of flowers, gardening, and spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Carlos Mason and Bert Rutledge, three brothers: Oliver (Joyce) Butler, Glenn Butler, and Wayne Butler, one sister, Deloris Davis, two daughters, Charlotte Mason and Barbara Rolin, one son, Terry Mason, as well as one granddaughter, Sunshine Rolin.
She is survived by two sons, Hoyt (Myra) Mason and Johnny Rolin, two brothers, Roy (Shelby) Butler and Jason (Mary) Butler, four sisters: Lena (John) Davis, Debbie (Bobby) Montgomery, Eileen Butler, and Debbie Butler, two grandchildren, Rebecca (Kevin) Rich and April (Mark) Black, four great grandchildren: Gracie (Bryson) Rolin, Adam Rich, Mason Black, and Dylan Rich, one great great granddaughter, Bristol Rolin, special friends, Jesse (Janie) Hillard and family, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Mrs. Rutledge on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home in Ardmore, Alabama, beginning at 4:00 PM until 5:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that people plant flowers in their yard or hang up a hummingbird feeder in memory of Mrs. Peggy.
Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home will be assisting the family with services.
