Mary Louise Long, affectionately known as “Miss Daisy,” passed away peacefully on Monday, December 1st, 2025, at Hospice Family Care, in Huntsville, Alabama. Born on April 30th, 1940, in Pulaski, Tennessee, she was the daughter of James Mitchell Butcher and Fannie Mae Hedgecoth Butcher.
Mrs. Long is survived by her devoted children: Barry Long and his wife Debbie, Keith Long and his wife Kathy, Renetta Kimbrough and her husband Danny, Anthony Long and his wife Connie, and Crystal Long. She is also remembered by her sisters: Nettie Higgins and her husband J.B., Linda Hollingsworth and her husband James, Frances King and her husband Fagan, and Renee Stoltzfus and her husband John. Her brother, Tommy Butcher, and his wife Shirl, and her aunt, Sadie Butcher, also cherish her memory. She leaves behind her sister-in-law, Margaret Raney, 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Mary is reunited with her husband, Jerry Long; her parents, James Mitchell and Fannie Mae Butcher; her sisters, Wanda Griggs, Sharon Clifton, Margaret Brooks, and Faye Bee; her brother, Kenneth Butcher; and her nephews, Nicholas King and Phillip Griggs.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at a visitation on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2025, from 4:00-8:00 PM at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 3rd, at 11:00 AM at the same location. Mrs. Long will be laid to rest beside her husband at Sardis Springs Baptist Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be A.J. Long, Jerry Long, Dakota Eldredge, Rylan Baker, Adam McMilin, and Chris Raney.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in memory of Mary “Miss Daisy” Long. Her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew her.
