Eric Matthew Warden, born June 22, 1973, in Huntsville, Alabama, passed away in his hometown on November 29, 2025. Born, raised, and gone far too soon in the place he loved most, Eric will be remembered for his unmistakable smile, quick humor, generous spirit, and the fierce loyalty he showed to those he loved.
Eric proudly served his country for seven years in both the United States Army and the Army National Guard, earning an honorable discharge. After his military service, he spent decades working as an IT professional for local government contractors in Huntsville, Alabama, applying his sharp mind, patience, and problem-solving skills to every project he touched.
He is survived by his daughter, Gracie Warden; his mother, Joy Warden; his brother, Brian Warden (wife Jodi, son Brady); and his sister, Dr. Tracy Warden. Eric was preceded in death by his father, James “Jimmy” Warden. He loved his family deeply, and their lives are forever shaped by his love and presence.
Eric lived life with an adventurous heart. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and—much to the amusement of those around him—canned salmon to a fault. His passions, his laughter, and his warmth made him unforgettable.
Those who knew Eric know he held strong convictions, often expressed with a grin and his trademark wit—among them his lighthearted but unwavering reminder that “taxation is theft.” It was one of many ways he brought humor and spirited conversation into the lives of those around him.
Though his time here ended too soon, Eric’s memory will live on in the stories shared, the moments cherished, and the love he leaves behind. He will be profoundly missed and forever loved.
Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. on Friday, December 5, 2025, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, with Military honors immediately following.
