Jean Meacham Jean Rust Meacham, 76, of Ripley peacefully passed on Friday, November 28, 2025 at her home surrounded by family. A memorial service will be held at Ripley First United Methodist Church on Sunday, November 30th. Visitation will be from 2:00 – 4:00 pm with services immediately following.

Lovingly known as “Momma Jean” by all, she will be remembered for her genuine kindness, unconditional love, and servant heart.

She was a devout Christian, an avid book reader, and lover of sunshine and birds. Rarely was she seen without a smile on her face.

Jean was a retired bookkeeper of Ripley High School and employed by Lauderdale County Schools for almost 40 years.  She was a devoted member of St. Paul United Methodist Church of Durhamville and was in the church choir and taught Sunday school for many years.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Don Meacham, daughters Lisa Massongill and Ann-Marie Torrence (Chris), grandchildren Lauren Evans (DeCarlos), Luke Massongill, Porter and Annabelle Torrence, great granddaughter Iley Bea Evans expected to be due in April.

She is also survived by two sisters, Sandra Joganic (Ron) of Trussville, AL and Joan Finney (Darrell) of Hopewell, VA including many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Ozell Himes, Father Ewell Rust, Step Father Ray Himes and brother Walter Rust.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the charities of their choice.
