Gail Sorter Mitchell
of Arab, formerly Guntersville and Boaz, went to her heavenly home November 27, 2025.
Gail was born to Doris and Dan Sorter in the Happy Home community on March 9, 1944. On October 20, 1965, she married Bobby Mitchell with his two daughters. Shortly after, together, they opened the Dairy Queen in Boaz where they served the area for twenty-seven years. Upon retirement, they moved back to Guntersville near her childhood home. After Bobby’s death, she moved to Arab to live out her final years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Doris (Madden) Sorter, husband, Bobby Mitchell, brothers, Dan Sorter Jr. and Randy Sorter. She is survived by two bonus daughters and their husbands, Anna Mitchell McKinney (Darrel) and Lela Mitchell (Jeff Richards); her sister, Lynda Stewart (Jackie); sisters-in-law, Angie Sorter and Mary Charles Milner; granddaughter, Morgan McKinney and grandson, Mitchell McKinney; nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, all whom she loved dearly. Special thanks to nieces, Felicia Mason and Candy Shaw, for all the support they provided to her.
FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS
with Guntersville Memorial Chapel officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 30, 2025 from 12:00pm until 2:00pm with the Service following at 2:oo pm Burial will be at Marshall Memorial Gardens Cemetery. She requested no flowers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to:
