Tasmen Ann Yauney, 69, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, November 13, 2025. She was born in Rock Spring, Wyoming, on July 13, 1956, to parents John Yauney and Doris Yauney, nee Bickley, and proud big brother David Yauney. The family was later joined by loving stepparents and doting grandparents, Marvin Morgan and Millie Yauney. Tasmen grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska, and graduated from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. She met her husband of 43 years, Dean Stone, while working on the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico before moving with their family to Huntsville, Alabama
In an industry full of engineers, Tasmen was a proud physicist who instilled a love of learning and music in not only her own children but generations of alumni from the children’s choirs she led with her husband. She will be remembered by her family as a formidable force of will in the face of difficulty, a fierce advocate for fair treatment, and an incredibly brilliant mind taken too soon. They will carry with them the delicious flurry of Christmas baking, the grim determination of late-night project deadlines, the gentle sound of lullabies, the paramount importance of having a good heart, and the delirious laughter at things no one else would understand.
She is survived by her husband, Dean Stone; her brother, David Yauney; her children, Mark, Chris, Ben, Katie, and Jordan; her sons- and daughters-in-law; six (almost seven) grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be held Sunday, November 23, at Monte Sano United Methodist Church in Huntsville, Alabama with a visitation at 4:00 p.m. and service at 5:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Alzheimer’s Association at https://www.alz.org/?form=FUNSTKLFHDM, or Hospice of North Alabama at https://hospiceofnorthalabama.com/donate/.
