SHEFFIELD– This morning, Monday, November 17 a belovd Sheffield icon burned. Ichiban Japanese Restaurant located at 1207 South Jackson Highway caught fire around 5:00AM and burned. The restaurant appears to be a total loss and the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
The fire was called in to 911 around 5:00AM on Monday. When firefighters arrived on the scene flames had aready engulfed the roof of the poplar eatery. Two trucks were on the scene and the fire is under control at this time as firefighters remain at the scene to make sure there are no hot spots..
The owners of Ichiban, Jacky Cai and Qinzhu Huang arrived on the scene shortly after the 911 call and were devestated at the destruction.
As the City of Sheffield awakens many are saddened by the destructionof their hometown sushi restaurant and many have expressed shock and sadness over the loss of Ichiban.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. As we get more information we will update information here.
